Marvin Sumba takes up the Nondies captaincy this weekend as the Red Lion vows to make a statement at the Kabeberi Sevens.
Coming from a great show at the Driftwood Sevens in Mombasa where the Red Lion managed a Main Cup quarter final appearance, head coach Willis Foxx Ojal will be looking to guide the team one or two steps further.
Sumba will be deputized by the fleet-footed Peter Savine Lugano.
Simon Ngugi retains his role as alpha male in the pride, being the only forward in the team yet again.
John Juma, Henry Fulbright, Joseph Akiruga Brown and Evans Musili come in for Charles Akaranga Kanyi, James Evans and Oscar Dennis.
Kanyi, who captained the team in Mombasa, is unavailable due to work commitments. James Evans was yet to recover from a knock to his knee by Thursday’s training session and is likely not to be fit for the weekend’s assignment. Oscar Dennis broke his collar bone in Mombasa.
Enock ‘Gaki Gaki’ Markinga, Eric Ombachi, James Odong, Phares Mbadi and Edwin Mwaseru maintain their places in the team.
Others in the injury room are Biko Adema who injured his ankle while on assignment for the Kenya Simbas, and Benjamin Marshall who is also nursing an ankle injury.
The Red Lion will be expected to show up, players and supporters young and old, to roar and make a memorable weekend out of the Kabeberi Sevens.
